Glimpses of Church and Social Life in the Highlands in Olden Times
and related Commentary

Alexander Macpherson 's Glimpses contains a wealth of information of interest to students of Highland history as well as Clan Macpherson families. Originally published in 1893, it has been republished in recent years in two forms:
      (1) The first third of the book (Part 1) was reprinted in paperback format by the Canadian Branch of the Clan Macpherson Association in the 1980s. To learn how to obtain a copy CLICK HERE.

      (2) When it appeared that it was unlikely that the other chapters would be reprinted in that form, I undertook to prepare edited versions of the remaining chapters and these have appeared in The Urlar, the quarterly journal of the US Branch, in serial form over the past several years.

Because many members of CMA living outwith the USA do not have access to The Urlar I have republished the several parts of Glimpses that appeared earlier. Parts 2 and 3 are in preparation and will published soon. The remainder can be accessed by clicking on the title.

To make the Glimpses Index useful I have inserted page lines in the text fo reach part of the book described above. These page-number lines are also useful for setting the width of the text window for optimum viewing (i.e., there should be no overlap in the dashes of the page-number lines).
